I was looking to capture the innocence and wonder of my then 18 month old son, Sam, as we prepared for our daily walk. I used the receding perspective of the planks to bring his image to the forefront of the painting. The bright yellow “Rain Duck’ cape and gumboots, along with the dark contrast of the sundeck surface ad to the feeling of a wet December day.
